Features

VeloPilot starts from OsmAnd, the open source offline navigation app, and adds what OsmAnd lacks for electric cycling: separate profiles for the bike you’re actually on.

Choose your bike

Every bike gets its own profile with its own speeds, routing preferences and map settings. Switch with one tap, for example when you leave your speed pedelec at home and take your regular bike.

Speed pedelec

Speed pedelecs (S-pedelecs) assist up to 45 km/h. In Belgium and many other countries they fall under different rules than regular bikes, so not every cycle path or road is open to them.

  • Routing that takes access rules for speed pedelecs into account
  • Arrival times based on speeds up to 45 km/h
  • Preference for direct, fast connections on long commutes

E-bike

E-bikes assist up to 25 km/h and may ride everywhere a regular bike can.

  • Arrival times based on assisted speeds
  • Climbs carry less weight, so the shortest route is often the best one
  • Full access to the cycling network and cycle route networks

Regular bike

The classic profile for riding on your own power.

  • Preference for cycle paths and quiet streets
  • Elevation-aware routing that avoids needless climbs
  • Follows signposted cycle route networks

A map made for cycling

The map is drawn for cyclists, not for drivers. Motorways, which you can’t ride on anyway, are barely visible, while cycle highways stand out clearly, so you can see at a glance where the fast bike routes are.

Built on OsmAnd

Everything you know from OsmAnd is still there:

  • Offline maps: download countries or regions and navigate without a data connection
  • Share maps with OsmAnd: already use OsmAnd? VeloPilot reuses the maps you downloaded there, so you don’t need to download them twice
  • Turn-by-turn voice guidance in many languages
  • OpenStreetMap data, updated regularly by a worldwide community
  • Elevation: contour lines, hillshading and elevation profiles
  • Trip recording: record your rides, import and export GPX tracks
  • Privacy: no account, no ads, your location stays on your device
